Inspiring the Vision
Community. Home. Family. As proposed, Kamakana Villages at Keahuolu reflects not just the needs – but, more importantly – the wishes of what kama‘aina, families, business owners, and civic leaders from this special area have said they want in a new North Kona community.
Topping the list are new, affordable homes for working families, but built within an integrated, sustainable framework of carefully planned development that lets families put down roots, keiki thrive, and neighborhoods flourish. Up to 2,330 new homes will be built on the 272-acre property over the next 20 years, with more than half priced at County-affordable levels.
A strong, lasting connection to the surrounding area, an environment that encourages lifelong learning, a setting where keiki can run free and families embrace the outdoors, a true spirit of one working for all, and a sustainable place that grows responsibly and with care.
This is the vision of a community that people in the Kona area have said they want.
And this is the community that the State of Hawaii’s Housing Finance and Development Corporation and Forest City Hawaii will build at Kamakana Villages at Keahuolu.
