Community Vision

Connectivity - Strong and Lasting
Kamakana Villages will have a strong and lasting connectivity to its surrounding land, to its ahupua‘a. Development will be sensitive and sensible, as tree-lined streets and walkways will knit together new homes and neighborhoods with new shops, stores, restaurants, and offices.
Taking advantage of its central North Kona location, Kamakana Villages will offer close and convenient access to transit services, as well as to Queen Kaahumanu Highway for an efficient commute to work and leisure activities.
Education - Encouraging Lifelong Learning
Kamakana Villages is providing families with two school sites for the construction of new, state-of-the-art education facilities that will help reach and teach youngsters and lay a lifelong foundation for learning, growing, and thriving.
One site will support an elementary school for the Hawaii State Department of Education, with the other being proposed for a charter school.
Open Spaces - Embracing the Outdoors
Kamakana Villages is designed to be a keiki-friendly community, offering two large parks, ball fields, open spaces, and playground structures to have fun, stay active, and just be a kid.
Bike-riding, soccer, playing catch, tossing the football, and shooting hoops – all this and more will be available for the young and young-at-heart to enjoy. Scenic pathways will be ideal for jogging, power walks, and moonlit strolls.
Kokua Aku, Kokua Mai - Helping Each Other
Kamakana Villages will inspire a true sense of laulima – lots of hands coming together to help one another. The community design is one that fosters interaction, of friends, neighbors and guests living, relaxing and enjoying life together, as a community is meant to do.
Planned for the neighborhood center are a market, boutique shops, eateries, and office spaces, all of which will lead to the comfort of daily living, encouraging conversations, developing friendships, and enjoying social gatherings.
A Sustainable Community
Kamakana Villages is designed to be an environmentally conscious, sustainable community. Both the new homes and commercial structures will be energy-efficient and designed to meet LEED criteria, with renewable energy, solar hot water, and water conservation technologies incorporated throughout the development.
Plus, the community’s location supports the sustainability of residential and workforce growth in North Kona, complementing perfectly the vision put forth in the Kona Community Development Plan and County of Hawaii Land Use Policy.
